Doctor Ian Russell is a Scot who has dedicated his life to helping the poor. Six years ago, he left Scotland when the woman he loved refused to marry him--unless he changed his sights for something more prestigious. Now, at thirty-three, he is a confirmed bachelor. But, an encounter with a woman who enjoys reading about parasites and other gruesome maladies may have him changing his mind. www.amazon.com/dp/B08TWPVYWV This is a stand-alone story to complement my novel 'Doctor Russell.' 19th century Britain knew extremes in wealth and well-being. Many children died young from disease or starvation. The poorest families struggled to survive even to the point of selling one of their children to help feed those remaining. Children were stolen to be trained as pick-pockets, chimney sweeps or worse. No social class in Britain was immune to the loss of a child by one means or another. What happens to baby twins stolen from a doctor fostering them? Their beginning in a hovel does not portend well, but, it seems they were born under a lucky star. www.amazon.com/dp/B097CMTS1N |

Do you like historical romances? My latest collection 'Quartet' has three Regency romances and one French historical with a little romance. I would be happy to give the 'Quartet' ebook to anyone in exchange for an honest review. Authors crave readers. A decent review is the cherry on the cake!
Any takers?

This is a 'cozy' mystery inspired by my daughter and companion who live in France. If you look carefully, you should see them on the book cover.

For those of you enjoying time-travel tales, this is an unusual one.
Although it explains how each of us has his own timeline and other interesting aspects of time travel, the story is a comedy!
Waiting to withdraw money from an ATM machine, Jim Clifton has picked up an ATM card which the man in front of him has just dropped - before vanishing into thin air.
The card has a pin number written on the back. Jim hesitates using the card but the owner's disappearing act and the fact it doesn't really look like a bank card has Jim popping it into the slot.
Oh dear... He shouldn't have done that!

I'm pleased to say I'm privileged to know Nick Russell, a NY Times Best Selling author. His stories are action- packed and will keep you turning the pages until the wee hours of the morning.
As this is Nick's 15th book in the Big Lake series, you'll do well to start with the first in the series called simply 'Big Lake.' His characters are so impressive, you'll wonder if Nick knows them personally.
Treat yourself.
You won't regret it!

Synopsis:
1817 Hertfordshire, England
Lillian is a thirty-year-old spinster who has recently lost her father, a wainwright.
Totally alone, she now wonders the direction her life will take. Although she has inherited her father’s home, belongings and land, the lack of income will soon pose a problem.
Her friend suggests she find a ‘good man’ and marry him.
'Easier said than done when one is past one’s prime,' Lillian thinks. 'There are so many young women looking for husbands, I don’t stand much of a chance.'
Jonas Coker, a widower with two children and a roofing business, has shown some interest, but Lillian finds him physically unattractive. His life outdoors has taken its toll on his permanently tanned face.
When she considers the alternative of remaining a spinster, she wonders if it is possible to overlook someone’s physical appearance?
Her mourning period will perhaps give her the time to decide, but meanwhile, the children see her as the perfect mother and try to persuade their father to make a move.
I have received a flattering review about this novel, so by sharing it, I hope it will encourage others to buy it. You will find the review here:

The Lie
by Elizabeth Rowan Keith
This is an unusual story which draws you in as it unravels and keeps you tied to it until the end. Elizabeth Rowan Keith has a way with words which rings true despite the 'lie' in the story.
The author has also given a credible impression of life in the United States during WWII.
I can recommend this ebook or its paperback version.

The Scot, Duncan MacGregor, is a veteran of the British army with fifteen years to his credit. On the eve of the Battle of Waterloo, his duty comes to an abrupt end when he is caught in a massive explosion, which leaves him disfigured. If he were taciturn before the event, he is positively reclusive in the aftermath.
Luckier than most veterans, he has had the good fortunate of being hired as estate manager for an uninhabited property in the North of England. There he has spent the last four years of his life keeping it in good order while keeping to himself.
The owner of the estate, a Londonian lawyer, has found MacGregor to be reliable and sound in his management of the place, so rarely visits the property. Frederick Hathaway, a widower in his forties, lives a contented life in London with his spinster sister and his only child, a daughter whom he loves dearly.
MacGregor is taken by surprise when the family suddenly decides they want to spend Christmas in the North.
Little do any of them guess the far-reaching effects it will have on them all!
For December, this full length novel is only $0.99 instead of $3.99!

I am pleased to announce my latest release -- a fantasy time-travel tale for all ages!
The story begins in a Victorian house in London where I lived for several years. The closet (or cupboard if you're English) really does exist, although it doesn't have that special feature it has in my story, at least I don't think so.
For those of you kind enough to buy the ebook on Amazon, I thank you in advance.
It is also available in paperback here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07192LBKD
I have entered this story into the Amazon UK Kindle Storyteller Award.
You can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket!
