What a delight to find oneself in a 15th century church for a Christmas carol evening!
The little church in the village of Tilliac (tee-yak), in south west France, proposed its Christmas carol evening for the sixteenth year running.
Because there are now a fair number of English-speaking residents in the region,
the programme was a mix of both English and French songs. Children were welcome, naturally, and sang two or three different songs.
The main choir came from another nearby town called Bigorre, but there were local people who joined them.
After the carols were over, all those who had attended were invited to cross the road to the community centre where hot, mulled wine was served along with a banquet of cakes and other foods - all graciously provided by the locals.
The evening's atmosphere was congenial!
Thank you...
